Cowboy - Cowgirl Birthday Party Invitations:

Send horseshoe shaped invitations:
"Yee-Haw ____is celebrating a Birthday.
Y'all come on down for some playing,
dancing and good old western grub! "

Western Cowboy Birthday Decorations:
A basic red and white checkered table cloth cover the table.
Make a centerpiece with a balloon bouquet tied to a toy horse.
If possible, give a real horseshoe to every child, attach a balloon to each one and place at their table setting. Hang streamers, western stencils and ropes. Hay, saddles and horseshoes add authenticity to the decor.
Place the saddle over a bail of hay so that the children can ride an imaginary horse. Don't forget the western music!

Cowboy Birthday Party Games and Activities
Before the party begins, set up some activity "stations" with toys,
coloring sheets etc., to keep little ones occupied as all of the guests arrive.

Upon arrival, present your little cow-pokes with a cowboy hat
and bandana to wear during the party.

Rodeo Games

Tin can shoot played with empty pop bottles and a squirt gun.
Place three cans on a bench and take turns with the water gun.

Pin the "tail on the horse", "badge on the sheriff ", cowboy hat on the etc.

Have a rope tying contest with licorice, or real ropes.

Galloping horse relay, with brooms and a challenge course.
Use bails of hay and saw horses for fun obstacles.

Boot Toss - use large cowboy boots and bean bags. The children will try
to toss the bean bags into the boots. Or, use a large cowboy hat.

Penny in a hay stack - hide pennies, small toy horses, and other cowboy
other items in a pile of hay...then kids will pile in to find them!

A game of horseshoes of course!

Rattle snake tag. Play just as you would a game of tag, but the player
who is "IT", will hiss like a snake. The child who tagged by the snake, can
be out or becomes the new snake. Players receive a toy snake prize.

Piñata Time

Rustle up the cowpokes for a wild west, cowboy piñata game!
Fill this cowboy boot pinata from Birthday In a Box, with candy,
stickers and small toys. When small children are involved,
we suggest converting your piñata to a the pull-string type.

Faux Leather Cowboy Vests
You'll need
Brown paper grocery bags, markers and scissors.
Directions :Cut one side of the bag down the middle to make
vest opening. Cut the bottom enough to fit a child comfortably
around neck and shoulders. Decorate with markers.

Horse Puppets
Make fun rodeo horse puppets, using brown paper bags,
construction paper, yarn, markers and glue.

Cowboy Treats and Birthday Cake Ideas
Serve up hot dogs, beans, corn on the cob and corn bread.
A bottle of sarsaparilla (root beer), or a Roy Rogers will quench any
cowgirl or cowboy's thirst!  Decorate a sheet cake with cowboy or horse figures. I always select cake toppers that can be played with afterwards,
such as Legos or Playmobil figures.

Party Bags and Favors

Fill cowboy bandanas with cowboy party favors and tie all four corners together. Ideas for prizes and goodies...
Licorice ropes, western stickers, hard candies, toy badges
and small western figures.
