Planning your Pokémon Party
If possible, begin your party preparations 4-6 weeks before your scheduled party date. Doing so will allow you ample time to make purchases on-line, mail invitations, order or make a cake and find necessary craft and game supplies without last minute scurrying around.
Combine a few Pokemon party supplies with the party games, activities, cake ideas and tips below to host the best birthday ever!

POKEMON PARTY SUPPLIES

We recommend ordering a Pokémon party box from our favorite on-line
party company, Birthday In a Box. You’ll receive tableware, decorations
and even party favors. Everything will be neatly packaged up and delivered to your door – party planning doesn't get easier that that!

POKEMON BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

Even after a raising a Pokémon fan , I confess that I find the story line and characters confusing. But with a little creativity, I managed to muster up some basic party games and activities, you may want to enlist your child’s help in planning the party games. If you have some creative suggestions, feel free to send them my way!

A Special Party Welcome

Upon arrival direct your guests to a table loaded with Pokémon coloring sheets, word searches, mazes, markers, crayons etc. This is great entertainment while the kids are waiting for all of the guests to arrive
and then on to more fun and games!

Pin the Tail on Pikachu
With a little artistic ability you can adapt the traditional party game to coordinate with your Pokémon theme. Or even easier, enlist a talented
teen to draw a tailless Pikachu on a large sheet of poster board…for a
small fee of course. Then, cut lightening rod tails from poster board and
use double stick tape or “sticky-tac” to play the game.
Don’t forget the blindfold.

Ash Says
Adapt the simple party game of Simon Says to accommodate your theme.
Purchase, or make the red cap similar to the one that Ash wears.
The birthday child will wear the hat and lead the group in the game.

Search for the Pokeballs
Before the party make several “pokeballs” using white plastic golf balls and red and black acrylic paint. If the birthday child is old enough, it will be fun for them to help with this task.  On the day of the party hide the balls throughout the party area or yard. Send the kids on a hunt to find all of the balls. You may want to divide the kids in teams or limit the amount the individuals can find. Players can then receive a small candy or sticker for each ball that they collect.

Hungry, Hungry Pokémon
The object of this game is top feed a hungry Pokémon character as many bean bag Poffins as you can.
Draw a simple Pokémon character onto the front of an empty large cardboard box. Cut a hole to create a mouth. Then the players will
stand a designated distance from the box and attempt to get bean bags into the hole.
If you have asked an artistic teen draw the pin the tail Pikachu game above, they can make this game as well! Easy bean bags can be made
with socks and dried beans. Tie the end into a knot or secure it with a rubber band.
Kit’s party tip: Cut the hole and adapt the distance to the age and skill level of the players.

Professor Sebastian’s Gadgets – a Pokémon Party Craft
Professor Sebastian is the wise scientist that supplies Team Rocket with
the gadgets they need to defeat their competitors. Your party guests
can create their own gadgets with the supplies you provide.
Cover the work space and fill the table with various craft supplies and accessories…
markers, pens, scissors, glue dots, glue sticks, hole punch, aluminum foil, paper towel tubes, egg cartons, chenille stems, empty water bottles, craft foam, buttons etc. – it’s amazing what a child’ s imagination can create.

POKEMON BIRTHDAY CAKE AND TREATS

Make a Pokeball cake to match your theme using a sphere cake mold.
Then, frost half of the cake in red and half in white. Place a length of
black licorice shoestring around the cake where the two colors meet.
Then add a chocolate cookie or mint to make the button.
For a really easy cake solution…
Bake and frost a simple sheet cake. Top the cake with small
Pokémon figures. These figures can double as a small birthday gift
when the party is over.

Pokeball Cookies
these cookies make a tasty party favor…
The easiest method is to dip white chocolate covered Oreos halfway into red candy melts.
You may also choose to bake your own round cookies. Ice the cookies with red and white fondant icing – just like a black and white cookie – YUM!

POKEMON PARTY FAVORS AND PARTY SUPPLIES
Send you guests home from the birthday party with a special thank you…the popularity of Pokémon will make finding small trinkets and toys easy; stickers, pencils, balls, collector cards and one of the special cookies mentioned above!
