Doodlebops Birthday Party - Party Ideas for Preschoolers
Join Dee Dee, Moe and Rooney for a "movin' and groovin' Doodlebops birthday party, featuring music,
dancing and birthday fun for preschoolers!

Doodlebops Birthday Party Supplies
For stress-free party planning, try to give yourself 4-6 weeks to
prepare.
If that's not possible, don't panic...you can still host a fun-filled
party. Begin with
Doodlebops Party supplies.
Then, add the
Doodlebops party games, decorating tips, and fun activities, provided
below.
So, "come on let's go" plan a party!
DOODLEBOPS PARTY INVITATIONS
Mail invitations 3-4 weeks in advance.
Purchase matching invitations
or, make your own. Cut music notes using cardstock paper.
Gather images from the Doodlebops website, to cut and glue onto the
note.
Write your message with a gel pen.
"Get on the Birthday Bus!" or "Come on, let's go...to a birthday party!"
Write the party details on the other side of the note.
TIP: An instrument store may have keyboard or instrument cards.
DOODLEBOPS PARTY DECORATIONS
The colors for this party are of course pink, orange and blue.
Hang plenty of streamers and balloons. Balloons should be
out of reach from
young children. Use colored
poster board to make large music notes and hang them from the ceiling and
walls. Place inflatable guitars and
Doodlebops posters around the party
area as well. You can find pictures and posters through the Doodlebops
website.
Cover your table with a solid table cloth; orange, blue, pink or yellow.
Transform it into a piano keyboard with a table runner made from butcher
paper and black construction paper. Use bright colored paper to cut dots
in different shapes and sizes. Then scatter them around the table for
extra color. Fashion a simple centerpiece, by placing a weighted balloon
bouquet into a tissue paper filled gift bag. Or purchase a Doodlebops bus toy and tie the bouquet to the toy.
This will serve two
purposes, as the birthday child can receive the bus for a birthday gift!
If you are super creative, make the bus with a shoebox.
Tip: You may find keyboard border at teacher store.
For extra fun, decorate a large refrigerator box to resemble the
Doodlebops bus. Cut a door and windows, not only providing a decoration,
but also a party activity!
When The DOODLEBOPS Birthday Party Begins
Upon arrival, give each child a colored shirt and/or matching cap in
pink , orange
or blue. Painter caps can be purchased at the hardware store
for around $1.00 - use fabric paint and a shaped paint sponge (craft
store)
to decorate the caps with musical notes, before the party.
Enlist a teen helper to face paint a music note, or instrument on little faces
as they arrive. Remember...not all children are fond of face painting.
DOODLEBOPS BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES
Moe Doodle's Drum
Save and collect oatmeal tubs from friends. Before the party cover
the container with colored construction paper. During the party,
the children can decorate their new drums with crayons, markers,
Doodlebops stickers and craft foam, stick-on shapes. Using stickers
and stick-on items helps to avoid glue which allows the children to
play their drums to music during the party.
I Can Dance
Provide pieces of colored streamer or ribbons to each child.
Play A Doodlebops CD
and let the children dance and move in their own unique way!
Don't forget the video camera!
Musical Chairs
When playing this game with young children, adapt it so that no-one is
left out. You can do that by placing carpet squares or pillows (one for
each child) randomly, or in a circle. The children will dance, march,
hop etc. while a Doodlebops CD is playing. when you shut off the music
the children need to run and find a spot on a carpet square. the fun for
young children is the excitement and dancing...not the competition.
Get On The Bus
This party game is similar to "the Conga Dance".
Again, play a Dooddlebops CD. Have the children find a spot in the party
area...a large space is better. An adult leader will be the bus driver,
wearing a blue cap just like Bob. The bus driver walks, struts and
drives around while picking up the children. Each child will hold onto
the waist,
or hand of the player in front of them until they are all
collected.
The "bus" will drive all around the space, in circles, around
trees,
skipping, hopping etc.
EXTRA PARTY ACTIVITIES
When entertaining young children it's always a good idea
to have "back-up" activities prepared.
Coloring
Print Doodlebops coloring sheets from the website,
or purchase a few coloring books. Place them on a table or mat with crayons.
Play Dough
A Play dough table is perfect for this age group.
Before the party make a batch or two of fresh play dough
In bright colors of course. Protect the work surface
and provide rollers, cookie cutters etc.
Bubble Blowing
All children love to to chase bubbles.
Ask a few adults blow bubbles while the children chase them.
Party favors could include play instruments, magic tricks, crayons, ....
Circle Time
Do you know a pre-school or Kindermusik teacher? If so, ask them to come
and lead some finger plays, or circle time activities.
Story Time
End the party with a story time to settle them down before going home.

More cake ideas...

from a sheet cake; oval, bar and flag. Tip: Cakes cut better after
they've
been frozen overnight.
Use a guitar shaped cake pan to make Rooney Doodlebop's Guitar.
Make a keyboard cake. Cut a large sheet cake in half, long ways.
Place the two pieces, end to end. Frost the cake white. Use black
licorice
and licorice shoestring to create the keys.
Rainbow Punch
Make a rainbow in a cup!
Use ice cube trays to freeze several Kool-Aid or juice flavors in bright
colors; red, purple, orange, yellow, green.
To serve, place all of the cubes in a bowl and let the children fill
their cups with the colored cubes. Pour a clear or light colored soda in
