Birthday Parties for Toddlers and Preschoolers

When it comes to birthday parties, you'll find that your little ones are
easy to please. As a matter of fact, toddlers will be blissfully happy
with a simple, short (one- to one and a half hour) party.

Choosing a favorite theme to center your child's party around will help
you to coordinate invitations, paper goods, favors, games, a cake, and
so forth. At this age, a theme needn't be elaborate; a simple concept
such as a color or shape, favorite character or storybook can be the
focal point for your decorations and activities. Use these ideas to get
your own creative juices flowing. With planning, party supplies, and
these tips, your preschool birthday party is sure to be a hit!

DOWN ON THE FARM
Provide stuffed animals and toys to play with. Have each guest bring their favorite animal. Provide animal ears made with felt and headbands.
Play music and have an animal parade. Then play follow the leader with animal movements and sounds.  Do you have a friend with a goat or farm animal that can visit? Don't forget to sing Old Macdonald had a farm.
Serve sandwiches cut with animal cookie cutters and give animal crackers as a party favor. If you choose to purchase party supplies, these are our favorites for this theme...

PLAYTIME ADDITIONS
Activities that work well with the toddler crowd are...
Bubbles and bubble wands (try to get the really big ones, too)
Play-doh and all kinds of art projects.
Noncompetitive games are best like Follow the leader.
Don't expect toddlers (especially those under three)
to want to cooperate in organized games.
Mom or dad will most often need to play along.
