Unique Bookmarks

A practical gift that can be personalized by your child in a number of creative ways. Bookmarks can be made out of paper, wallpaper, ribbon, craft foam, fabric or yarn. Fancy ones can have beads or ribbons
hanging from string off the top. Your child can decorate a strip of paper with colorful hand-drawn designs, or rubber stamp patterns. . For extra durability, laminate or cover them with clear contact paper.
Create a bookworm by gluing on eyes, a pom-pom nose and
pipe-cleaner antennae.
Key Chains
Key chains can be made a variety of ways. The easiest is to use large plastic or glass beads with a durable string or plastic "boon doggle"
lacing material. Simple place all of the beads into a bowl and let your child create on their own. Purchase the rings at a local craft supply at very little cost. To personalize the key chain, use a small  piece of  "Craft Foam"
and  recipient's name with fabric paint. Cut or punch a hole and attach
it to the ring.

Box of Love
To make this gift you'll need:
Small plain boxes- Jewelry boxes work very well.
Glitter, sequins or any ornamentation.
Ribbon
Printed poem ( below) on card stock paper if possible.

This is a very special gift
That you can never see.
The reason it's so special,
is it's just for you from me.
Whenever you are happy,
or even feeling blue.
You only have to hold this gift
and know I think of you.

You never can unwrap it,
please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close
to your heart,
It's filled with love inside.

Have your child decorate the boxes in anyway she/he pleases.
Add a ribbon and the poem, with the signature.
Tips: Try your local jewelry store for boxes. We were able to purchase
them for 25 cents each.

Postal Paperweight
Your kids will have fun sorting through the mail to collect interesting  canceled stamps. When they've collected several, soak the stamps in
warm water until they separate from their envelopes. Let the stamps dry. Then glue them onto a small rock. Brush on "Modge Podge", white glue,
or a clear finishing gloss.

Personalized Clock
Pop the plastic cover off an inexpensive clock and remove the clock face. Cut prepared artwork to the same size as the clock face and add numbers around the edge. Slide the artwork in place and replace the plastic
cover. Note: If you cannot remove the clock face,
it can be colored or your child can add stickers.

Personalized Ornaments
Encourage creativity by having kids paint plain glass or plastic ball ornaments with fabric paint. The possibilities are endless! Snowmen, Stars,
Snowflakes...Many of the plastic balls can be easily filled with curling ribbon to add color.  A special holiday message can also be inscribed.

Chocolate melting Spoons

Simply dip colored plastic spoons (high quality) in melted dark, milk or white chocolate (or candy coating) and top with multicolored or glittery sprinkles. Wrap in clear or colored cellophane, tied with ribbon. For a special addition to this yummy gift, glue a photo of your child onto a square of paper for a unique gift tag. NOTE: This is intended as a hot drink stirrer. We do NOT recommend you allow young children to eat these alone, as they could bite into the plastic spoon.

Soap Shapes

You'll need one bar of Ivory soap; 1/4 cup water; 2 drops of food coloring; cookie cutters; and a strong kitchen grater. Finely grate the soap in
a big bowl, add water and coloring. Mix well and spoon into cookie cutters. Pack the mixture firmly and dry overnight. You can also shape the soap
into balls. Wrap in netting and tie up with a colorful ribbon.
Extra: If you want your soaps scented, you can add a few drops of essential oil or soap scent. Most craft stores will carry these items.

Pots of Love

Brighten dreary winter days, with brightly hand painted, terra cotta pots. Add a festive touch with gold and silver paint. A painted flowerpot can be filled with little stones and used for forcing bulbs. Or include some cuttings from some of your favorite houseplants.
